backupBLOX (onsite backup)
backupBLOX provides Network Backup Storage for Windows PC's using a Building Blox IT supplied desktop backup application, which allows both user scheduled and on-demand backup's to the onsite backupBLOX server, only replicating the changes to files rather than copying the whole file each time, thus saving time and network bandwidth. Once a user has scheduled their backup requirements, the desktop application will automatically run the backup(s) as per the schedule(s), providing the PC is switched on.
backupBLOX stores the current files separately, and keeps a history of changed and deleted files in an easily recoverable form which is only limited by disk capacity, not cycles, as in conventional backup systems.
If an offsite drBLOX is part of the client "BLOX SET" (the recommended solution), the onsite backupBLOX automatically replicates the current files to the offsite drBLOX server through a secure, encrypted tunnel (VPN) via the internet on a scheduled basis (typically overnight).
backupBLOX has 2 disk drives in a redundant RAID1 (mirrored) configuration which enables it to withstand a disk drive failure and continue to function. Current disk capacity's are 1TB, 1.5TB & 2TB (usable).
Processing power is provided by a 1.5Ghz low power consumption CPU, with 1GB RAM, and 2 x Gbit Network ports, packing a lot of capability into a small foot-print.
backupBLOX can be configured with dual functionality, so it can also act as an offsite drBLOX. This allows a client to minimise their BLOX rental costs as their sites can have 1 onsite backupBLOX each, also acting as the other site's offsite Disaster Recovery facility (see the BLOX SET Configurations section for more details).
